During the summer months, we run a number of activities for families. Today I’d like to focus on the ‘creative workshop’ that I run every Thursday morning (most of the time!). It’s an activity that’s very close to my heart. The general aim is to let your imagination and creativity run riot. These workshops will also be available during the spring holidays, from 25 April to 11 May 2025.
How does it work?
I launch a theme and provide resources: white and coloured paper, crepe paper, corrugated cardboard, pre-cut motifs, magazines, string, feathers, etc., and tools: fun scissors, pencils, pastels, felt pens, glue, tape, etc.
The children get to work on their creations. The youngest are accompanied by a parent. The really small ones sit in a high chair with their paper and pencils. When things get stuck or the imagination fails, I can add something to the table like a little crepe paper flower, a garland, I show examples… this can help the child to get going again on his or her own creation.
What I love about this workshop is letting children use their imaginations, giving them permission to step outside the box, to appeal to their ‘magical’ side, to see them express their dreams. I’m always amazed at what they can produce, starting from a proposal that may seem very vague and ambitious, especially when we’re talking about young children.
I also love to see their pride when they show me what they’ve made and ask me if they can take their creation home to their parents. A quick photo to immortalise this happy moment and we’re overjoyed.
It’s also worth noting that the themes inspire the parents too, and that they can also make their own creations. The workshop is also a great place to talk to each other. It’s a place where friendships have been forged that are still going strong today!
