The Dordogne is the river that separates the Lot and Dordogne departments. It is the only river in France classified as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, a testimony to its high environmental quality. Its entire valley has just shone by taking twelfth place in the great competition for the best holiday destination in Europe organised by the Brussels site European Best destination, the “tourism beauty contest” (out of 192 destinations). In France, it simply came second, behind Paris!
We are very proud of this recognition and invite you to discover or rediscover it through its big names, but not only! The Dordogne Valley destination cannot be summed up by its prestigious sites such as Rocamadour, the caves of Lacave, the Padirac chasm or its medieval castles. It is also a history, welcoming and passionate people, a gentle way of life that can be felt on a daily basis.
