Seduced by the park and the general organisation of this small campsite, we took over Le Rêve in 2018. We were immediately certain that we would feel at home here and that we would be able to deploy our sustainable development values. After 7 seasons, we think it’s important to take stock of the situation in figures, over and above the information we can update on the eco-camping page or on some of our news items. It’s interesting to have great ideas, but they have to be effective! The authenticity of our approach also means the transparency of our results.
It’s an essential issue for us, and we’ve already talked about it in another article, saving water, where we described the measures we’re taking in this direction.
Camping Le Rêve has a serious handicap with its large swimming pool and paddling pool! These two structures consume an enormous amount of water. We can console ourselves with the fact that these pools are used by a lot of people, as our establishment welcomes a total of around 10,000 tourists each season. Compared with an individual pool, you’d have to have a big family and a lot of friends to compete with that number! So the water benefits as many people as possible.
Le Rêve’s second handicap is the water network, which covers 3.5 of the 8 hectares of the campsite. Built in 1988, the network can show a few weaknesses and generate leaks. We have to be vigilant on a daily basis to identify any leaks and repair them as quickly as possible.

We developed our energy strategy in another article on our solar water heater. The main idea is to eliminate fossil fuel consumption and switch to renewable energy or no energy at all!

* Elimination of the two gas tanks on the campsite
To be totally transparent, we still have a few gas cylinders used for cooking in our Ecolodge and Tent Glamping accommodation. However, this is over for the hut on stilts Morphée and Gaïa and will be for the 2025 season for the cottages. A policy of small steps…
Electricity is a major consumption item on a campsite, especially when you have swimming pools, and even more so when they can be heated. The restaurant is another high-consumption item. We’ve decided to keep all these services for everyone’s comfort, while optimising them and using common sense!

* 2024 consumption vs. average consumption in 2021, 2022 and 2023
We’ve talked about consumption, in terms of water, gas and electricity, but in the other direction the campsite produces waste. We obviously need to limit this production and make better use of it. We immediately signed up to the Lot department’s zero waste programme, which we described in a news item in 2018 Zero Waste Ecotourism, a responsible campsite

We are proud of these results, which are the result not only of our own actions but also of the responsible behaviour of our customers. We would also like to emphasise that all these results have been achieved while maintaining an excellent level of comfort for all our services. And to conclude, I would like to quote Pierre Rabhi (a French personality): Sobriety is a happy option that produces a lighter, calmer and freer life. Happiness is not in possession, in having, but in being.
